Putting the 'Good' in Neighbourgood: How We're Rockin' the Community Vibes!

Let’s sprinkle around some good vibes, shall we? ✨

For years as humans we’ve been asking the question, what’s in a name, and for us at Neighbourgood, the answer is easy. We're on a never-ending quest to spread all the good vibes, and the secret ingredient to our success is (drum roll, please)... collaboration! We've buddied up with some seriously cool organisations to sprinkle a bit of kindness in our communities, and we're over the moon with the difference we've made together!

👟 June/July 2022: Sneakers for Hope Campaign

So, we teamed up with the fab folks at Sneaker LAB to cook up the Sneakers for Hope Campaign. Our mission? To collect shoe donations for our less fortunate pals during the run-up to Mandela Month. We wrapped things up with the Run for Hope 5K fun run (shoutout to the Running Late Club!) and the Hour for Hope "67 Minutes" event on Mandela Day. Long story short, we collected over 100 pairs of shoes! The Hope Exchange gave these kicks a new lease on life before passing them on to their new owners.

💗 August 2022: Women's Month

August was all about women power, and our events calendar was packed to the brim! The Run for Women 5K fun run, in cahoots with Sneaker LAB and the Running Late Club, was an absolute blast. Our main goal was to gather sanitary products for our sisters in need in the CBD. We matched the community's efforts, and together, we donated over 50 Dignity Packs to The Hope Exchange. They then shared the love with local women through their outreach initiatives. Oh, and we also hosted a Women's Health talk with the amazing Komani team, who make and distribute reusable pads.

🏠 October 2022: World Homeless Day

To celebrate World Homeless Day, we joined forces with The Hope Exchange and donated meals and refreshments for a super fun run event. Members of The Hope Exchange community received snazzy running shoes and participated in a run around the nearby suburb.

📚 November 2022: Santa Book Drive

We partnered with the bookworms at Webb Attorneys to host a festive book drive, collecting over 200 books for kiddos aged 2-19 years. The lucky recipients were the young'uns at Sikhula Sonke Early Childhood Development Centre and the Durbanville Children's Home.

⚽ December 2022: Ubuntu Football Matric Farewell Dinner

We sponsored the Ubuntu Football Academy's farewell dinner, making sure the final year students could have a ball (pun intended!). Located in Masiphumelele Township, the Ubuntu Football Academy is all about nurturing the next generation of football stars and community leaders. The big night went down at Yumcious Café in De Waterkant, and the lads received some stylish clothing gifts from local brand Cultish Supply.

👍 January 2023: Nomads for Good

We started the new year with a bang and the Nomads for Good drive! We called on Cape Town's digital nomad community to donate essential items for those less fortunate, instead of chucking them as they ventured off to their next exciting destination. From razor blades and toiletries to clothes and shoes, as well as non-perishable foods, we collected it all! The Hope Exchange then used these goodies to support their fabulous outreach programmes.

Fancy joining us on our next feel-good adventure? Get in touch! Let's do GOOD, together – and have a blast while we're at it!
